The River’s Edge

I went down to the edge of the river
Knelt down in the sand
To wash away the remains of the day
Let the Gun fall from my hand

I waded out in the water
Braced against the flood
To rid the sin and the devil within
And wash away the blood

It’s been a long hard road to travel
Been a long steep hill to climb
The cuts and burns
Twists and turns
Just get harder with time

I knelt down at the edge of the river
Bowed my head to pray
I’ll pay the toll
For my tormented soul
If you take this pain away

All of Your Fear The Drafty Old Cabin
